The Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB) is the statutory body governing professional plumbers in South Africa. Being PIRB registered means Andre has passed formal competency assessments and is legally permitted to perform and certify plumbing work. CAREER BACKGROUND
From the Bushveld to the Building Site
Before founding A1, Andre spent significant time working on commercial game farms where he was directly involved in camp construction and management. This included erecting large-scale fencing systems, building farm infrastructure, managing camp logistics, and developing the kind of practical problem-solving mindset that separates great tradespeople from average ones. Working in remote environments with limited resources sharpens a builder's resourcefulness and technical skills faster than any textbook.
That chapter of his life gave Andre a strong foundation in project management, site coordination, and working within demanding physical environments. All of these skills translate directly to the residential and commercial construction projects A1 takes on today. Clients benefit from this breadth of experience every time Andre walks onto their property.
When Andre returned to the Still Bay area and founded A1, he brought with him not just construction knowledge inherited from his father, but years of real-world site experience that gave A1 its edge from the very first day.

A Still bay Man Through and Through
When not working on construction sites I am an avid surfer and angler. I spent my early career in commercial game farming where I was also involved in camp construction and management. I am married to Taylor and together we are raising our son Elijah. I am from the Still Bay area, and matriculated from Hoerskool Langenhoven in Riversdale.
Growing up in Still Bay means Andre understands the specific demands of coastal construction. Salt air corrosion, humidity, and the need for materials and methods suited to a seaside environment are considerations he accounts for on every project. His deep roots here mean he has lasting relationships with local suppliers, understands local council requirements, and is genuinely invested in the long-term appearance and functionality of every structure he builds because he lives here and sees his work every day. Being a local also means he is accountable and reachable, not a contractor who disappears after the invoice is paid.
